The Toasted Marshmallow
Oswald was found at a gas station. His scraggly self just wandered up to my husband and I. Much to my husbands chagrin I decided to bring him home. We originally took him to the shelter in town, I was unaware it was a kill shelter. We were told that he would be held for a few days to assess if he is adoptable and if not they would put him down. He’s a beautiful flame point himmy so I just assumed he’d be snapped up quickly. He was not. So we took him home, and he became ours.
Oz is the chillest cat I’ve ever met. Other than the vacuum I have never seen him freak out over anything. As he has gotten older he has become a total snugglebug. He sees what he wants, and takes it. Even if it is your spot on the couch if you leave it.
Food. Oswald always wants food. He will do his best to trick you into believing he needs to be fed. He will also eat anything you give to him, or even something you didn’t give to him. He has an unfortunate alcohol problem, and you can sometimes find him licking the tops of empty beer bottles.
Another of his favourite things is going for a walk. I have a kangaroo pouch that I put him in and we walk over to the park and he wanders around eating grass (and then throwing it up).
He also has a bumblebee toy that he is in love with. He carries it around in his mouth and cries mournfully…usually at 3am.
Oswald does not like being moved from his chosen spot. He is also not amused if we go to bed without him. If he wakes up by himself, and we’ve gone to bed he will cry, and cry, and cry… Until one of us goes to get him and brings him to bed.
What I love most about my Oswald:
Whenever I come home from work Oswald knows it’s naptime. So he eats his food, and then goes into the bedroom and waits on the bed for me. Then he lays up against my back and purrs so loudly, and we nap together. I also love that when you pick him up for cuddles he shoves his face in your neck and snorts and makes you feel so loved.
Korg started off his life in a animal shelter under the name Porkchop. My husband and I decided it was time to get a new cat after our beloved Amina passed away. The husband got to chose the new cat. So after looking at photos of cats from shelters he saw an adorable photo of kitten Korg looking shocked and amazed. The husband chose to rename him Korg, after a brand of synths he likes.
Korg is the Mike Tyson of cats (minus the sexual assault) he is a 20lb monster with an itty bitty meow. He is just a big loaf of love and very much enjoys cuddles. He’s a bit quirky because he prefers to be held standing up than when you’re sitting down; but he will sit on your lap sometimes if he feels like it. He is also a giant scaredy cat, he’s afraid of pretty much everything.
Korg monster’s favourite treat is “I can’t believe it’s not butter”. Some cats come running at the sound of a can opener, my cat comes running if he hears the margarine container. He also loves those dehydrated chicken breast strips for dogs, and Mideast feast by weruva. He also enjoys being cradled like a baby and rocked. Hell.. He just likes being held period. He will go full dead weight in your arms and trust that you will support him. Seeing as how he is 20 lbs that can get rather tiring. He is also very fond of being sandwiched between warm laundry as it is made of warm.
Korg dislikes pretty much anything that makes a noise. He is afraid of his own shadow. Garbage bags are especially scary, for whatever reason.
What I love most about Korg:
I love that he is such a sweet, and gentle fella. He trusts me completely, and he’s more than willing to offer up his belly for rubs. He is also very tactile, and when you snuggle with him he likes to touch your face. He also drinks with his paws.
Bella joined our household in July 2017. She is our most recent furbaby. We got her from a family member.
Bella is an absolute sweetheart. She is very mouthy and pretty much always has something to say. She is my shadow and generally follows me around everywhere. When we first got her she was a little hesitant of the fellas, and she still does not like Korg.
Fresh water and Temptations cat treats.
Korg. She tolerates him, but she is not his biggest fan.
What I love most about Bella
She is my cat, unlike the boys who prefer the husband. I love our nightly routine of falling asleep with her holding onto my arm. She also has a really loud purr and her fur is so very soft.
I found Amina in the garbage area of my apartment on a cold day in January a few months before I met my husband. She was itty bitty, and I thought she might be a kitten, but it turns out she was around 7yrs old. She helped me out during a very dark time in my life, and her snuggles and purrs eased my loneliness. She was my soulmate in kitty form. She went over the rainbow bridge about 7yrs ago and I miss her every damn day.
Amina was not the brightest of cats; but she had the best heart. She was like a leech and loved to lay on my boob shelf and get snuggles. She was also quite talkative and had the best “meh” in the history of kitties.
Her daddy’s blue blanket, pools of sunshine to sunbathe in, and sleeping tucked in her daddy’s arms.
I cannot think of anything Mina disliked. She was super easy going and chill.
What I love most about Amina
She was perfection personified, even when she was throwing up in my hair in the middle of the night. She just loved to be snuggled and had the best purrs. I loved to snuggle here when she was sunbathing because the smell of her sunwarm fur was the best.
I had smokes since I was a little girl, and she was a kitten. She was my only friend; but I was not always the nicest to her. Being a lonely little kid, I used to take her on some misguided adventures in my backpack. We biked a lot of places together, and even went to the movies. We were separated during my teen years, but when I moved to London in my 20s she joined me and stayed with me till she went over the rainbow bridge over a decade ago.
Smokes was me in cat form. Neurotic, and very trusting of people. She had an anxiety, and would lick all her fur off. She was not a lap cat, and did not like to be too close to you. That doesn’t mean she wasn’t affectionate, she loved pets. She also loved to be told how beautiful and wonderful she was. Losing her was incredibly hard, but I knew that I gave her a good last few years of her life.
Smokes loved laying on the balcony in the sun. She also adored my husband, and he was really the only person (including myself) who she would get close to. She also liked to be tucked in at night. She would harass you until you went to the bedroom and tell her goodnight and shut the light out.
Most things. She definitely hated the other cats, especially Amina. She also disliked being held.
What I love most about Amina
I love the way Smoke’s would flirt with you when you talked to her and told her how pretty she was. She would lay on the back and squirm around and paw at you. It was super fucking cute. She also purred super loud.
